Meet Ernie Anaya
Upon graduating from college Ernie was commissioned as a Combat Arms US Army Officer, Field Artillery, earned Military Intelligence Branch Qualification, TOP SECRET CLEARANCE, served in a nuclear capable Field Artillery Battalion, and executed the duties as Fire Support Team Leader, Division Artillery Aerial Observer, and Battalion S-4 Staff Officer achieving the rank of Captain before pursuing a career in Fortune 500 corporate America.
He proudly served in active duty with the 1/82 Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas earning two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, and US Army Cold War Recognition Certificate. He is a Life Member of the 1st Cavalry Division Association, Military Order of Foreign Wars, Perpetual Member of the Military Order of World Wars, Order of Daedalians for Military Aviators, Military Intelligence Corps Association, Life Member of the American Legion, The Naval Institute, and earned the very selective US Field Artillery Honorable Order of St. Barbara.
Ernie’s father was a cardiologist and his mother was one of the first women ordained an Episcopal Priest in the U.S. who also served at National Cathedral in Washington, DC. He attended St. John's Military School in Salina, Kansas making the Honor Roll, Who's Who Among American High School Students, and earning Varsity Letters in tennis and basketball.
He graduated college at Ole Miss earning two BA degrees, one in astrophysics and the second in history and Spanish double major, earning a Certificate in Latin American Studies, while also attending graduate school.
While at Ole Miss, Ernie was selected Cadet Colonel for the Army ROTC Corps of Cadets, President of Scabbard & Blade National Military Honor Society, Vice President for Phi Alpha Theta History Honorary, Vice President of Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honorary, and made the Dean's List and the National Dean's List.
Ernie earned a MBA from top ranked Michigan State University (Broad Graduate School of Management), participated in its Global Management Summer Term in Japan and Singapore, and earned membership in the National Honor & Merit Scholars Society. He also attended the Executive Program in Supply Chain Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and read Doctoral studies in Political Economy at the Swiss Management Center in Zug.
Ernie has held executive positions with Fortune 500 firms such as Abbott Labs, General Electric Healthcare, and Xerox; also, as a Client Solutions Director for Information Security Consulting Services with EMC Corporation covering the Department of the Army in the US and Germany, gaining a TOP SECRET CLEARANCE (2007 - 2012), and as a Principal with SunGard Consulting Services covering Healthcare in the US and Latin America. He has earned the following Information Security certifications: CISSP, CRISC, CBCP, MBCI, including the National Security Agency’s InfoSec Assessment Methodology (NSA IAM), and InfoSec Evaluation Methodology (NSA IEM).
Expert Speaker at several international conferences addressing Information Security, Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity for Healthcare institutions in Baton Rouge, Seattle, Mexico City, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Ernie has earned national and international recognition having earned membership in the Strathmore's Who's Who Worldwide in 2008, The Army and Navy Club in Washington, DC (Knights of the Silver Circle), life member of the Royal Society of St. George (UK), a Knight Commander of the Order of the Eagle of Georgia (Europe) where Queen Elizabeth II is a Dame Grand Collar, Knight, Maestranza de Caballería de Castilla (Spain), Knight of the military Scottish Order of the Fleur de Lys (UK), Cavalier, The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, The Social Register Association, and as a Fellow at the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain (FRAI).
Today, he focuses on investments and development in the Assisted Living and Memory Care Sectors, a career change influenced both by his mother’s advanced Alzheimer’s and wanting less international travel in order to spend time with his son during his formative years. Earned the 2020 Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtor’s Million Dollar Club Award in the Investment Category.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Ernie has resided in Georgia District 45 for 17 years and familiar with our issues; he and his wife are the proud parents of a 13 year old honor student attending Gwinnett County schools.
With his public service experience in the military, Fortune 500 executive experience worldwide, and many accomplishments in the US and abroad, a problem solver and consensus builder, Ernie is an uniquely qualified candidate to represent District 45 as its next Georgia State Senator.
